FIGURE 5:  DARK-FIELD SIGNALING WAVES IN PARENT STRAIN AND MYOSIN II MUTANT MOUNDS

Parent strain dark-field signaling waves. [size: 4,663 KB] Two-armed spiral (light bands) rotate counterclockwise in this mound.

Myosin II heavy chain null dark-field signaling waves. [size: 4,770 KB] These three mounds show the aberrant wave patterns of MHC null mounds. The upper left mound shows a wave propagating from left to right. The upper right mound shows the wave propagating from the mound and down the stream to the north. MHC null mounds do not produce strong clear waves, and they appear to be unable to maintain one center from which waves emanate.

3xAsp dark-field signaling waves. [size: 4,678 KB] One-armed spiral wave rotates around one dominant wave center in this mound.

3xAsp dark-field signaling waves (subtraction movie). [size: 4,408 KB] Same movie as above except timepoints have been subtracted to enhance wave profiles.

Regulatory light chain null dark-field signaling waves. [size: 3,392 KB] Three-armed spiral waves (light bands) rotate counterclockwise in this mound.
