FIGURE 1:  DYNAMIC "C"-TO-SPOT TRANSITION OF MYOSIN II AT CELL REAR

"C"-to-spot in several rotating GFP-MHC cells in tight mound. [size: 9,966 KB] GFP-MHC cells were mixed with parent strain cells and fluorescently imaged. Cells are rotating counterclockwise. This view is a projection of three focal planes spanning a total depth of 20 µm in the mound. The mound edge is seen as a gray circular band.

"C"-to-spot in rotating GFP-MHC cell in tight mound. [size: 4,089 KB] Mound is composed entirely of GFP-MHC cells undergoing clockwise rotation. Note one cell joining rotation at 5:00 starting position shows "C"-to-spot as rear is continuously pulled in. Three cells at the center of the mound show "C"-to-spot while rapidly rotating.
