MISSION OF DIVISION OF BASIC SCIENCES
The Division of Basic Sciences
-
Provides cutting edge basic research relating
to cellular, molecular, genetic, biochemical and
immunological mechanisms relevant to the understanding, diagnosis and treatment
of cancer and other diseases;
-
Supports training and research opportunities
in basic cancer research for young investigators;
-
Supports the translation of research findings
by integrating and coordinating divisional research activities with
other NCI divisions, with the institutes, centers and divisions within
the National Institutes of Health as well as with the private sector and
the academic research community.
Our major goal will be to provide the best
environment to perform quality science and cutting edge programs that will
impact on the cure of this disease.
The Division of Basic Sciences is the
largest basic science research enterprise in cancer. The Director
of the Division of Basic Sciences is J.
Carl Barrett, Ph.D.; Deputy Directors are Douglas
R. Lowy, M. D. ,
Robert
H. Wiltrout, Ph.D.,
and Stuart
H. Yuspa, M. D.
The Division of Basic Sciences periodically
has openings for outstanding postdoctoral fellows. Please direct inquiries
